History of Don Imus

At Fifteen , His parents was divorced.

At Twenty , His father died.

Imus married two  times.

Around 1965,Imus married his first wife Harriet Showalter.They divorced in 1979.

Imus married Deirdre Coleman on 17th December,1994.

In 1999 , Imus and Deirdre founded the Imus Ranch (4000 acre) cattle ranch near Ribera,New Maxico.

Until its Closing in 2014 , The Imus Family volunteered their time at the Imus Ranch between Memorial Day and Labor Day each year.

John Donald Imus Jr. was an American radio personality , television show host , writer and recording artist and author.

John Donald Imus Jr. was known for his radio show Imus in the Morning which aired on various stations until 2018.

In 1957 , Imus dropped out of high school and joined the United States Marine Corps at Base Camp Pendleton where he was stationed in the artillery division before transferring to the Drum and Bugle Corps.

Then , Imus moved to Hollywood with his brother in an attempt to find success as musicians and songwriters.

After dropping out of the University of the Pacific , Imus worked as a brakeman on the Southern Pacific Railroad.

He Suffered a mining accident that broke both of his legs and collapsed one lung.

In 21st April,1997 Imus was named one of the 25 Most Influential People in America.

Imus was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 1989.

In 2002 , Talkers magazine ranked Imus as one of the 25 Greatest radio talk show hosts of all time.

John Donald Imus Jr. attended broadcasting school in 1960.

In 1968,He secured his first radio job at KUTY in Palmdale , California.

After 3 years , He landed the morning spot at WNBC in New York City.

In 1979 , Imus returned to WNBC and stayed at the station until 1988 when the show moved to WFAN.

He gained widespread popularity when the show entered national syndication in 1933.

Imus was labelled a "shock jock" radio host throughout his later career.

In March 2018,He retired from broadcasting.

During his early yeras broadcasting in New York City , Imus battled with alcoholism.

In 2000,Imus suffered serious injuries after a fall from a horse at his ranch and broadcast several shows from a hospital.

In 2009 , Imus was diagnosed with stage 2 prostate cancer.

Imus was hospitalized at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center on 24th December,2019.He died on 27th December,2019 at the age of 79.
